Hua Ye China, Australia, b. 1961

Overview

Hua was born in Canton P.R. China in 1961. His talent in art allowed him to attend the Youth Arts Centre of Guangzhou from 1975 to 1979. It is a great honour in China to be selected to study art and you need to be an exceptional student.

When he completed his studies he taught art as a teacher at Guangzhou High School for the next five years.

In 1984 to 1988 Hua applied and was accepted to study Fine Arts at the Academy (Institute) of Art at Guangzhou. Hua was taught by the master of watercolour the renowned Wang Zhaomin.

When he completed his studies at the Academy Hua worked as a graphic designer for the Guangzhou Foreign Trade AD & Exhibition Corporation from 1998 to 1990.

In 1990 Hua arrived in Sydney to start a new life and also to continue his passion in drawing and painting. Since 1992 Hua has won several first prize awards for his watercolours and drawings as well as other awards including Highly Commended Awards since arriving in Australia.

Out of the many entries accepted by the Royal Agricultural Society (R.A.S) of NSW for the Sydney Royal Arts Show, Hua has won many first prizes at the show over the years and recently won First Prize in the watercolours section 2006. Hua has received five first prizes for different works submitted as well as several second and third prizes. Hua's inspiration to paint has come from Claude Monet & Anselm Kiefer which is quite evident in his technique of applying his paint. Hua's work is quite unique, as he has managed to bring together in his art east meeting west.
